ABUJA—A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Chike Erokwu, has described the recent endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan by the party as its sole candidate for the 2015 presidential election, as the best thing that happened to the PDP.
He said that Jonathan deserved the endorsement because of his excellent performance in the last three and a half years.
Erokwu expressed optimism that the party will not lose the election since the adoption was the right step taken to consolidate on the gains of the transformation agenda of the Federal Government.
Erokwu said:”I am in full support of the decisions by the party’s two most powerful organs, the Board of Trustees, BoT, and National Executive Committee, NEC, as well as the Governors’ Forum, by unanimously adopting President Jonathan as presidential candidate and Vice President Namadi Sambo as his running mate.
“I see it as a good step in the right direction because the motive was to consolidate the gains of Mr. President’s transformation agenda. This will also assure Nigerians of getting the best from his administration in the next four years.
“It is not undemocratic as some people would want us to believe. It is a demonstration of political maturity by those who understand the game of politics.”
