PORT HARCOURT— Former Miss Nigeria and Lifestyle Consultant, Mrs. Helen Ajayi has emerged Allure Style Icon 2014. Nominated along with her in this category were Nkiru Anumudu and proprietor of Ebony Life TV, Mo Abudu.
The presentation of the award plaques took place yesterday in Port Harcourt during the closing ceremony of the three-day Native and Vogue Port Harcourt International Fashion Week.
The award was presen-ted to her by the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Tele Ikuru.
Also announced last night was the winner of the Young Designers Competition, Ibiteim Thompson.
While presenting a blank cheque to Thompson, Mr. Ikuru said she will be trained for one year in South Africa by the state government in fashion design and other related field.
He explained that the blank cheque meant that the government will pick her bills for the one year she would be in South Africa.
Other winners in the different categories of the Allure Style awards include Lexy Mojo Eyes, Fashion Promoter of the Year; Bimpe Onakoya, Makeup Artist of the Year; Zhalima Grazioni, Young Designer of the Year.
Also on the winners list were, Amaka Chirah, who emerged Model of the Year and Recare, for Beauty Brand of the Year.
The annual awards were instituted to recognise and applaud stakeholders who have excelled in the fashion and beauty industry.
Editor, Allure, a publi-cation of the Vanguard Newspaper, Mrs Remmy Diagbare, who later announced winners in other categories, said focus was on passion and creative powers in choosing winners of the various prizes.
