Bauchi — THE Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu, has blamed the worsening insecurity in the country on lack of employment and respect for core societal values, lamenting that the Federal Government is not doing enough to address the challenge.
He specifically blamed the government for allegedly allowing the insecurity problems in the nation to deteriorate to the level where several lives are being wasted daily.
The emir spoke, yesterday, in Bauchi through Alhaji Yakubu Abdullahi Yakubu, the district head of Kobi at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, where the National Association of Public Administration Students, NASPAS, honoured some individuals in the state in recognition of their contributions to national development.
According to the royal father, “lack of employment and respect for core value in the society is responsible for the present security challenges in the country. It is in this light that the government must brace up and find a lasting solution to this problem before it consumes us.
“I want to warn the youths who are usually used as mecenaries to perpetrate violence in society to resist the temptation to be used as weapons of destruction, especially now that we are approaching the 2015 general elections.
“The government also has a role to play by ensuring that youths are gainfully employed, provide basic infrastructures in the country and shun politics of rivalry and tyranny.”
Among the awardees were Alhaji Aminu Saleh, former Secretary to the Government of the Federal during Abacha regime, Shuaibu Musa; Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi and Mr. Abdon Dallah Gin, Head of Service, Bauchi State.
On his part, President of the NASPAS, Auwal Abbas, said the association decided to confer the beneficiaries with the award due to their contributions to the society and national development.
Also speaking, Rector of the polytechnic, Musa, warned the students against examination malpractices and cultism, saying the institution would not hesitate to deal with any student found wanting.
