Fourgovernorship aspirants under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State have explained why they want to unseat the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun in the coming election in the state.
The aspirants are:a member of House of Representatives from Yewa South/Ipokia federal constituency, Abiodun Akinlade, former member of House of Representatives from Odeda/Abeokuta North/Obafemi-Owode federal constituency, Kayode Amusan, former commissioner for environment, Asiwaju Anthony Ojesina and the National Secretary of Board of Trustees Jonathan Mandate Group,Segun Adewale.
The aspirants disclosed this at the party Secretariat in Abeokuta, shortly after they obtained the intention form having paid a sum of N2.5 million each to run for governorship seat in the coming election in the state .
According to Amusan, he was propelled to seek the governorship seat in the state because of the complaints he reportedly received daily from residents of the state.
He said the intention to contest for the governorship seat was borne out of the fact that there had been complaints from the people as regards the collapsing economy of the state.
In his remarks, Akinlade said the incumbent governor had deviated from what he promised the people of the state, saying, he showed the interest so as to correct what he called irregularity.
“If you look at our manifesto, you will realize that governance is about people and that is what is not happening in the state today, the Government has deviated from the reason for which he was elected and the people who elected them are not happy,” he said
Also explaining why he obtained the form of intention to run for governorship in the state, former commissioner for environment, Anthony Ojesina said, he would embark on industrial, energy, agricultural and infrastructural revolution.
According to him, human capital development would be taken seriously.
