2015: KCOBA tasks PDP, APC on education vision

As the 2015 general elections approach, King’s College Old Boys Association while outlining the programme for its 105th Founder’s Day anniversary, has invited the chairmen of the two leading political parties (PDP and APC ) to speak on their party’s vision for education in Nigeria

Speaking on activities designed by the Old Boys to mark the event, the Chairman, Kingsweek Committee,  Mr Albert Okumagba said: “On Thursday, September 18, the 2014 Founder’s Day Lecture will hold at the Shell Hall MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Chairman of All Progressives Congress and Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party will speak on their party’s vision for education in Nigeria.”

According to him, apart from the lecture offering a formidable platform for the leading parties to showcase their vision for education, it is also in consonance with the Old Boys’ commitment to the unity of Nigeria and desire to raise the quality of public discourse around key issues as we approach 2015.

Okumagba who noted that the King’s College Old Boys’ Association is one of the leading alumni associations in Nigeria stated that it has for many years been in the vanguard of the quest for educational reform and transformation. He said: “Working closely with the school authority and the Federal Ministry of Education, we have contributed substantially to the upgrade of learning infrastructure in the school.

The activities will commence on Wednesday September 17,  with a novelty football match between King’s College Old Boys’ Association (KCOBA) and Queens’s College Old Girls’ Association (QCOGA) at the Queen’s College Sport Complex.
This will be followed by the anniversary Jumat service schedule for 1pm on Friday, 19th September.

The grand finale of the 2014 Kingsweek will be the 105th Founder’s Day Dinner/Exhibition  which will hold at 5pm on Saturday, 20th September at the Dorchester, Zion Centre, Water Corporation Drive, Oniru Estate, Lagos.

More over, Okunmagba noted that the present Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II who is an aluminous will be guest of honour at the Founders Day Dinner. Just as N1 billion  Endowment Fund raised  intended to secure the future of their Alma mater.

The activities will be wrap up with the anniversary thanksgiving  service which will hold at the King’s College, Lagos Hall on 21 September at 9am  and the AGM at 2pm.
