We’ll work harder – Devdebo

Head coach of Nigeria U-20 women team, Peter Dedevbo has said that he will have to do extra work  in order to take maximum points against their next group opponents.

This is coming after the team’s frustrating 1-1 draw against Mexico in the opening group match, Wednesday night.

Reviewing the 1-1 draw against the Mexicans, the tactician said he will work on the team’s tactics, particularly on ball control, passing and finishing.

“It is like every other match,” he started. “At times you don’t get what you expect. When your plan does not work out for you, you feel a bit disappointed,” he said, adding that there was no cause for  worry. “There is no problem. It happens like that in most first matches of every competition. The team gave their best”.

The coach noted that the Mexican side were good too.

“I did not expect them to be this strong, they have given me the opportunity to see some lapses in my team which am going to work on. Am not satisfied with a draw because I wanted a win to put the team top of group C”.

The lone goal scorer Osarenwoma Igbinovia, said her first goal for the Falconets came as a result of team work.

“My team mates assisted me to get the goal. The coach also encouraged us to score from the blind side and thats what I did”.

For Asisat Oshoala who came out as Man of the match, it was not a good day for her, as she missed many scoring chances.

“It was disappointing, I would have converted the chances I had but that’s football, I promise a better performance next time”.

Nigeria’s next match comes up on Saturday, 9pm Nigerian time.
