Police arrests two for snatching Ballot Boxes in Niger

Minna – Niger police Command has arrested two people for snatching Ballot Boxes during the Saturday Niger East Senatorial By-Election.
The duo were arrested at Maikujeri Polling Unit in Tunga Bsrko Ward in Rafi local government area of the state.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Sontoye Leroy Wakama told Journalists in Minna that investigations are going on and assured that others involved and their collaborators will be fished out and made to face the Law.

“We are sure that these two arrested are not the only one involved but I can assure you that others involved and their collaborators will be detected, arrested and prosecuted to serve as detterent to others,” the DIG assured.

He however described the election as generally peaceful adding that the only challenge identified during the election was the delay in the delivery of some Electoral materials to some designated areas in the affected local government areas.

DIG Wakama scored the Police high in the conduct of the elections conducted in parts of the country recently saying rather than crucify the Force, they should be commended for their non-psrtisandhip throuout.

He called on members of the public not to hesitate in reporting any police to the appropriate quarters if found wanting in the discharge of their official duties.
