Police  arrests  man for abducting traffic Warden

ABEOKUTA – Ogun State Police Command has arrested a young man, Tosin Owolola,27, for allegedly  abducting a traffic warden at Iyana Mortuary, Abeokuta .

The  Police  Public Relations Officer in the State, Muyiwa  Adejobi  in a statement  disclosed that the incident occurred  Saturday when  the traffic warden was at his point in Abeokuta and flagged down the man driving his car against the traffic at Iyana Mortuary.

Adejobi said ” the suspect hit the traffic warden and he(warden)fell on the bonnet of the car. The suspect kept on driving for a distance,more than 4 kilometers,with the traffic warden on his bonnet.

“It took the efforts of the members of the public and other police men on patrol,who were called on distress,to rescue the traffic warden from the man in the Kemta Idi Aba jungle,where he drove into.

“The suspects,who was heavily drunk,is a technician with ordinary national diploma in Business Studies from the Lagos State Polytechnic, and hails from Imo,Abeokuta, in Abeokuta South Local Government of Ogun State.

The Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Ikemefuna Okoye has directed a  thorough investigation into the matter and that the suspect be subjected to some medical examinations before he would  be charged to court to face the full wrath of the law,as such will serve as deterrent to others who are fond of harassing and assaulting security agents on duty.

“The Commissioner of Police also warned that such act will no longer be tolerated for it’s the duty of the command to take welfare of our personnel serious; and urged the general public to accord adequate respect to all security agents who are being deployed to perform their  duty”.
