LAGOS — Social and commercial activities were, yesterday, paralized in Ilasamaja area of Lagos following an invasion of Taminowo Street by suspected cultists, which led to the death of a father of three.

Report said pandemonium broke out at about 4 pm, Wednesday, after four men clad in black shirts and armed with dangerous weapons, including guns, stormed 8, Tanimowo Street.
Their target, according to reports, was a 29-year-old father of three identified as Biodun Fadipe, popularly known as “Pepper.”

The suspected cultists were said to have fired sporadically, thereby causing everyone to take cover.
Fadipe, a technician, was said to have just finished a meal and was sitting in front of his shop when his assailants attacked him. He was said to have been hacked to death with an axe.

When Vanguard arrived the scene yesterday,  his shop and others around it were under lock and key while some of the residents who fled for fear of being attacked in a likely reprisal were yet to return home.
While some of the residents were of the opinion that the deceased belonged to a rival cult group, others kept mute when Vanguard approached them.

But a relation, who identified himself simply as Wasiu, said: “The incident happened in broad daylight, when four men clothed in dark apparels and armed with dangerous weapons stormed the area and started attacking people indiscriminately. There was commotion as everyone ran for safety. Two of the invaders were  said to be wearing masks.
“When the dust settled, we all came out from our hide-out only to find Biodun in the pool of his blood.”

When Vanguard got to the residence of the late Biodun, at Oremeji Street, his widow, who is  nursing a baby, was said to have been taken to her in-law’s place.
Contacted, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Lelma Kolle, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, could not state whether any arrest was made. He simply said he would get back to Vanguard.
