The Aniocha North chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has elected Mr. Henry Nwabuakwu as its chairmanship flag bearer in the forthcoming council elections scheduled for October 25 in Delta State.
Chairman of the party in the council, Ogbuefi Nnamdi Mohanye, who presented Nwabuakwu, said the choice was unanimous and based on the zoning formula adopted by the leaders to ensure equity and fairness.
He said of the three clans in Aniocha North, only the Odiani clan had not produced an elected council chairman as against the two and one from Ezechime and Idumuje clans, respectively.
Delta State Poverty Alleviation Commissioner, Dr. Antonia Ashiedu, said: “It was only fair and in the spirit of communality to allow other clans have a shot at the chairmanship of the Aniocha North council.
“The leaders of the party in the council met at the Obior residence of the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, where the idea of the zoning formula was muted and upheld.”
Former state Commissioner for Commerce, Sir Vincent Ugbelase, reaffirmed that the decision had the support of the Odiani clan leaders and the entire leadership of the party at the Obior meeting.
