ABEOKUTA- Operatives of Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Commission have quizzed two top officials of the Ministry of Works in Ogun state for allegedly violating the corrupt practices and other related offences Act 2000.

Vanguard reliably gathered that the commission has requested for some documents relating to some capital projects embarked upon by the ministry.

It was also gathered that the two top officials of the Ministry ; Adedayo Adedeji and Adio Sogbesan were quizzed on Tuesday and were still being detained at the commission in Abuja as at the time of filing this report.

Our correspondent gathered that, the commission through its head, Principal Investigation Unit , Kayode Adebayo wrote the permanent Secretary of the ministry of works requesting that Sogbesan and Adedeji should appear at the Headquarters of the commission yesterday .

It was further gathered that the commission summoned the officials of the ministry which is handling most of the capital projects in the state and requested for documents of the projects.

Our correspondent who glanced through the two letters written by ICPC observed that the letters dated July 28 were addressed to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry and were acknowledged by the Secretary, July 30,2014.

The letter of invitation read thus “pursuant to section 28 of the ICPC Act 2000, you are required to release the under listed staff to appear before the undersigned at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja on August 6,2014 at 10:am prompt for the purpose of interview”.
In another letter titled request for documents, the commission said it was investigating the allegation bordering on the violation of the corrupt practices and other related offences Act 2000 in the ministry.

The letter read thus ” in pursuant to section 28of the said Act, you are requested to release the under listed document to the investigating officers.

“Cash book of all projects accounts for the period 2008 to 2012 . Payment of vouchers for all payments made from the projects Accounts for the period 2008 to 2012.

“Statements of accounts for all projects accounts maintained by the ministry for the period 2008to 2012 .

“Approved budget for years 2008 to 2012 payments schedules/cheques stubs in respects of all payments made from the projects accounts for the period 2008 to 2012 .

“List of all projects accounts with their number maintained by the ministry for the period 2008 to 2012 .And any other documents as investigation may require “.
