Ethiope West calls for extension of voter registration exercise

The chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Hon. Precious Ajaino, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to extend the days for the ongoing voters registration exercise in Ethiope West Local Government.

Hon. Precious Ajaino made this statement recently at an emergency meeting of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, stake holders at Oghara.

He noted that the machines for the registration exercise are very slow and cannot register up to 200 persons per day, saying that long queues of people are seen being unattended to before the day runs  out.

Ajaino  further stated that the bad weather of continuous rainfall also prevented eligible voters from going to the various units to register.

While commending Prof Attahiru Jega the INEC boss for ‘a solid arrangement’ and also a way of making credible elections, she noted that the days were short for the exercise.

Meanwhile, the convener of the emergency meeting of PDP stake holders Hon. Ben Ibakpa, the Delta State Commissioner for Transport while addressing press men stated that the people of Ethiope West should be careful on political issues, adding that the Delta State Gubernatorial elections candidate has been zoned to Delta North.
