No Ebola patient in Ethiope West – Council boss

Report that an Ebola patient had been admitted in OurLadies Hospital Oghareki in Ethiope West Local Government Area has been described as untrue.

The Chairman of the  Local Government Transition Committee, Honourable Precious Ajaino while addressing journalists  at the kings palace in Oghara said no Ebola patient was admitted in Our Ladies Hospital in Oghara, adding the Delta State Ministry of Health, Asaba had also debunked the story.

Hon Ajaino explained that the doctor of the said hospital, noticed some symptoms that were similar to those of Ebola Virus on a patient who had just returned from Lagos State. He added that the doctor was scared and alerted the Ministry of Health in Asaba and they responded immediately. He further stated that the blood sample of the suspected patient was taken to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, for proper screening.

The council boss added that the results were forwarded to Asaba, where it was confirmed negative.

He said Oghara is a blessed land devoid of such dreaded disease. While condemning the peddlers of such rumour, he advised the people of Ethiope West to adhere to medical advice and remain steadfast with God. Ëbola response team that would monitor and sensitize the people on the virus will be inaugurated soon.
