ABUJA — A member of the House of Representatives, Segun Odenye, has faulted the decision of the national conference to recommend setting up of a technical committee by the Presidency to resolve the impasse on derivation and resource control.
Odenye, who spoke at a news conference, stated that the decision to refer such a sensitive issue of national significance to the Presidency that had earlier mandated it to resolve the matter, showed that delegates to the conference were not true representatives of the people.
He said: “The people who are at the national conference are not true representatives of Nigerians, that is why they are still referring a matter affecting the whole country to the president.”
The federal lawmaker, who represents Ijebu Central Federal Constituency of Ogun State, further said referendum remained the best way to give life to the outcome of the conference.
