ABUJA—THE House of Representatives yesterday urged the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, to probe the killing of civilians by suspected cult groups at Egbema, Imo State.
The Reps in plenary, asked  the relevant security agencies to immediately provide enough personnel in strategic locations at Egbema.

The members also called  on the National Emergency Agency, NEMA, to urgently provide relief materials to the displaced victims of the attacks.
It condemned the attacks in villages and communities at Egbema by the cult groups.
The House’s decision was sequel to a motion moved by Gerald Irona, PDP-Imo,  which was unanimously adopted without debate.

He explained that on July 13, a rival cult group in a retaliatory attack, invaded Obiakpu main town and killed four innocent persons, including a community leader.

Irona said same cult group had killed over forty persons between January 2012 and June 2014.
