ABUJA — DEPUTY National Chairman of the Senators Forum, Senator John Brambaifa, has distanced himself from media reports that the North was plotting to kill the yet-to-be presented National Conference report.
According to reports, a prominent northern member of the Senators’ Forum, who is a delegate at the confab, convened a meeting of northern delegates to discuss moves to ‘kill’ the final report of the conference and was said to be wooing other five members of the forum, who are also delegates.
Distancing himself from the plot yesterday, Brambaifa said in a statement: “The truth of the matter is that as the current deputy chairman of the Senators Forum and to the best of my knowledge, no delegate representing the Senators Forum at the National Conference has held any meeting with Senator Khairat Gwadebe since the inauguration of the conference, talkless of having a meeting to be wooed to kill a Conference Report that has not been presented to conference delegates at plenary.
“It is important to say categorically here that as a delegate of the National Conference I believe strongly that the purpose of the conference is to bring together well-meaning patriotic Nigerians to discuss our problems and find common agreeable positions for us to live as a people.
“Therefore, I see any plan to kill a report that has not even been presented to Conference Plenary as destructive, in bad taste and should be condemned totally by all well-meaning Nigerians. I, therefore dissociate myself from the publication.”
