Air Force helicopter crashes in Borno

MAIDUGURI—A Nigerian Air Force Mi- 35 helicopter on a training mission, yesterday, crashed at a location South of Bama in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, due to alleged technical fault.

A pilot and a technician died in the crash, while the third crew member, a pilot, was rescued alive.
Bama is about 70 kilometres drive from Maiduguri and along the border of Sambisa Forest, which had witnessed series of attacks by suspected members of the Boko Haram Islamist sect.

This was contained in a statement by Director, Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukokade.
Olukokade said investigation had commenced to unravel the circumstances that led to the accident, adding “it is esta-blished that the crash is not as a result of any enemy action.”
