The Director-General and Chief Executive of the National Teachers’ Institute, Kaduna, Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu has called for more sporting activities and participation by educational institutions across the country. He made the call at the sports Week of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Dr Aminu, who led the National Teachers’ Institute’s Squash Team to the Squash tournament. also added that sporting activities apart from keeping the body fit and healthy fosters unity and collaboration amongst participating Institutions.
The Vice Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha thanked the NTI Team for the participation and outstanding performance. He reiterated the importance of sports to the well being of individuals and as a unifying vehicle for educational institutions in the country.
Participants and team players expressed their satisfaction with the organization of the squash tournament while calling on other institutions of learning to engage in more sporting activities.
The Squash tournament saw stiff competition and high spirit of sportsmanship between the Ahmadu Bello University Team and their counterpart from the National Teachers’ Institute. At the end, trophies were presented to both teams for outstanding performance.
