It has been revealed that Obinna Nsofor was left out of Nigeria World Cup final squad on account of what an official termed “chronic knee injury”.

The 27-year-old winger or striker featured for Nigeria at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and was on the provisional list for Brazil 2014.

However, AfricanFootball.com has learnt the player’s knee problems resurfaced in the build-up to the recent warm-up against Scotland in London.

Scans were later done on his problematic knee to determine how serious his injury is.

He would return to training with the rest of the Eagles in Philadelphia, United States of America, but it was too little, too late then.

In November, Nsofor netted a superb free kick goal against Ethiopia in Calabar to wrap up Nigeria’s qualification for Brazil 2014.
