OSOGBO—OSUN State chapter of the Labour Party, LP, yesterday ruled out the possibility of joining other opposition parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to produce a joint candidate for the August 9 governorship election in the state.
Chairman of the party, Mr. Timothy Olatunji said however that LP would welcome any of the parties that might wish to join it for the purpose of forming a formidable team to dislodge the incumbent Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
Speaking in Osogbo, Mr Olatunji, accused the state government of sponsoring crisis in the party to disintegrate it ahead of the August 9 governorship election.
Olatunji, who recently resigned his appointment as a member of board of Osun State Teaching Service Commission and defected to the LP from the All Progressives Congress, APC, alleged that the government was sponsoring a factionalisation of the party to cause disaffection .
The former Chairman of the party, Mr Rufus Oyatoro is currently leading a faction of the party.
