The 2014 edition of The Nigerian Auto Awards (TNAA),is once again set to celebrate industry players and brand builders of note at its 9th edition in Lagos.

Disclosing this at a press meet with journalists in Lagos recently, the publisher of On Wheels magazine and Managing Director of MMQplus, organisers of the event Mr. Jabez Aina-Scott, said that plans have been concluded to host the event again at the Eko Hotels & Suites on Friday May 16, 2014.

As the event that celebrates and upholds the values of brands and personalities in the auto industry, he said that the annual event started out of the passion and drive of the organizers to standardize, celebrate and focus attention on the Nigerian automotive industry.

Aina-Scott noted that despite the annual nature of the award, the ovation still pervades the air as it continues to set the bench mark for industry stakeholders. “We want the event to distinguish the ‘men’ from the boys, thereby setting standards for the industry in Nigeria” he said. He reiterated that the award is designed to encourage innovations, market leadership, management integrity, good corporate governance, creativity and customer satisfaction in the auto industry.

“We will achieve greater results and efficiency with this ninth edition as the event is expected to be partnered by brands of repute. In fact, major highlights of the event will include the unveiling of the ‘Car of the Year’, entertainment and fashion parade by a notable Nigerian designer” Aina-Scott said.

He further assured of excellent results from the event as a Board of Award Committee of carefully selected men of integrity, industry exposure, knowledge and experience has been instituted to bring their wealth of experience to bear on the award.

The awards will come in three major categories – The Auto Support Services Awards, Tyre Awards, Logistics and Auto Awards with each set featuring a number of awards slated to be won by worthy and deserving industry players.

Further highlights, according to the organizers include dance, music and a host of other activities designed to add glamour and glitz to the event that has become a reference point for the Nigerian automotive industry.

It will be recalled that On Wheels magazine, the leading auto industry publication in Nigeria instituted “The Nigeria Auto Awards” in 2004 and held the maiden edition in the first quarter of 2005, promising at the time to make it an annual event.
