Itsekiri graduates petition Chevron over recruitment slots

WARRI — THE National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG, led by Ms Alero Tenumah, has petitioned Chevron Nigeria Limited over the recent recruitment of 12 Itsekiri persons out of the 36 invited for interview in the Vocational Training Programme 6, VTP6, describing the action as “an insult on the Itsekiri nation.”

NAIG, in petition to Chevron’s General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, gave the oil company 21 days to invite all 36 Itsekiri graduates that attended the interview to resume at the VTP6 programme in Ogere, Ogun State or be prepared to face “the biggest showdown with the Itsekiri graduates, youths, women and elderly across Warri Kingdom.”

It described the situation, where provision was not made for transportation, accommodation and feeding for those who attended the recent VTP6 recruitment exercise as “inhuman, uncivilised and falling short of global best practice.

“A situation where Itsekiri will be shortchanged to make others happy to the detriment of Itsekiri ethnic nationality will no longer be tolerated.”
