Standard Liege striker Imoh Ezekiel is disappointed he was excluded from Nigeria provisional 30-man World Cup squad.

His mentor, Gafar Liamed, told AfricanFootball.com Imoh Ezekiel was confident he would be named on the squad, but he will now have to wait for another chance with the Eagles.

“Imoh was shocked and disappointed he was not named in the World Cup squad, he is getting over it and look forward to better days with the Eagles,” said the football club owner.

“He (Imoh) doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. I was disappointed he wasn’t called, but not surprised.

“I know the coach was under pressure to name a team that will be acceptable in all quarters. Every coach has a different belief in different players.”

“Imoh is just a bit over 20 years of age, he has a lot of years ahead of him to play football. He was not forced on Keshi. The coach saw him and had his reasons for doing so, he must have his reasons for dropping him now.

“We will still wish the team a good outing in Brazil.”

Imoh Ezekiel debuted for Nigeria in a friendly against Mexico in Atlanta, Georgia, earlier this year.

He has scored 15 goals in all competitions for Standard Liege this season.
