Protesting PHCN workers
By Suzan Edeh
Bauchi— Scores of the retired electricity workers, yesterday, in Bauchi State, protested over alleged non-payment of their pension and gratuities by the Federal Government.
The protesters, who were in front of the state Electricity Distribution Company Plc, along Ahmadu Bello Way, said they were undergoing untold hardship as they could no longer pay their children’s school fees or feed properly due to non-payment of their entitlements.
The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Electricity Sector, in the state, Mallam Isa Olarewaju, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues said, “for three months now, we have not been paid salaries and gratuities. This is unfair. We served the government for 35 years.”
