Ekiti 2014: Fayose didn’t lock me up — Monarch

BY Gbenga Ariyibi

The Alafao of Afao,Oba Joseph Adebare Ademilua has said it was not true that the former governor of the state, Mr Ayodele Fayose locked him inside his palace to prevent him from attending to Governor Kayode Fayemi during the governorfs campaign tour to Afao Ekiti last weekend.

The Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation had at the weekend accused the Fayose of locking up the monarch in the palace to prevent him from attending to Dr Fayemi.
Speaking with newsmen in his palace in Afao Ekiti yesterday ,Oba Ademilua said the statement credited to Daniel was erroneous.

According to him, on the eve of Fayemi’s visit to his town, he, the Oba summoned all the chiefs and other stake holders on how they would receive and welcome Fayemi to the town.

Prayer session
‘But no sooner had we taken the decision than a rumour mill came that there would be trouble and crisis if Fayemi is going to visit me in the palace.

Therefore, when Fayemi eventually came, we had to change our decision a bit and we now decided to embark on a prayer session where we prayed for peace and tranquility in the town.
We had to do that because we don’t want a repeat of what happened at Iyin Ekiti.

On whether Mr Fayose had actually paid him a visit in the morning of that particular day and locked him up, Oba Ademilua said Fayose was not in town on that fateful day and therefore the former governor could not be in position to lock him up.

The monarch admitted that he has the highest respect for Dr Fayemi as a sitting governor and lover of peace and development of the state.
Oba Ademilua equally commended Fayose as one of the illustrious sons of the town and charged politicians to give peace a chance by working for the peace and progress of the state.
