Leaders of Owan West chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC, yesterday, denied recent media reports of an alleged ultimatum issued to Governor Adams Oshiomho-le of Edo State arising from disagreements during the local government congress, just as they affirmed their support for the governor and the party leadership.

A statement by the chapter’s leader, Chief Shagari Oni, said: “Following the meeting of the leaders and members of APC, Owan West council on May 18 at Eguaoje Plaza, Uzebba, we condemn in its entirety, recent media publications distorting and introducing untrue statements that were never uttered at the Eruere rally.

“We wish to state that at no time did we give the governor or the party an ultimatum, neither did we refer to the furniture supplied to Edo State Government as substandard. We reaffirm our full support for Governor Oshiomhole’s government and leadership.

“We remain steadfast, committed and loyal party members and have no intention whatsoever of leaving the party.
“We remain committed to the hamonisation agreed by the leadership of the party and the governor at the meeting of April 14.

“The congress of April 25 was for the purposes of affirmation of the sole candidates as presented by the people of Iuleha in line with the directive of the mediating leaders of Edo North, which decision was mutually agreed to by the contending parties at the meeting on May 24.

“We remain committed to the decision of the Senatorial leaders, the outcome of the May 25 congress and the right of the Iuleha people to present a candidate of their choice for the chairmanship of the party in Owan West.”
