Chief Segun Osoba and Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun

ABEOKUTA—NATIONAL leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC, yesterday, stopped the plan by the faction loyal to the Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun from inaugurating the factional state executive council of the party.
Vanguard gathered from a top echelon of the party at the national level who pleaded anonymity that the governor was threatened with sanction if he went ahead with the planned inauguration of his factional state executive.
According to him; “The party will wade into the crisis towards resolving it, I can assure you. I think it is better to wait and see how the matter is resolved.
“The party cannot support any of the factions within the party. We will look into the crisis in a very dispassionate manner and ensure justice, equity and fairness”.
Amosun’s faction had announced its planned inauguration of the new executive scheduled to hold at MKO Abiola international stadium, Abeokuta.
However, there was a mild drama yesterday as some people were seen pulling down canopies already mounted at the MKO Abiola stadium, Abeokuta in preparation for the inauguration.
While announcing the postponement of its planned inauguration of the new state executive, factional Publicity Secretary of the party, Sola Lawal said; “The postponement follows the decision of the national leadership of the party to hold the ceremonies in all the states where congresses had been successfully held at the same time”.
According to Lawal, the APC secretariat on Sunday informed the leadership of the party in the state that it has scheduled a meeting for May 13 in Abuja where all the states that are ready for inauguration of the executives at Wards, Local Government Areas and states will be determined and a date can then be fixed for the simultaneous inauguration ceremonies.
“The Ogun State APC had earlier announced that it would hold the inauguration ceremonies for the newly elected executives tomorrow inside the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.
“However, the arrangements for the inauguration ceremonies will now be put on hold until the national secretariat of the party fixes a date after its May 13 meeting in Abuja”, he said.
