Sacked National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, has asked the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja to stay the execution of the judgment of a Federal High Court, Abuja, which ousted him as chairman of the party.

In the application by his counsel, Mr Patrick Ikwueto, SAN, Umeh and the National Secretary, Alhaji Sani Shinkafi are asking the appellate court to stay the execution on the decision of the Federal High Court, pending the hearing and determination of their appeal, which had been  adjourned till April 29,  for hearing.

The appellants are contending in the application, that “unless an order of the Court of Appeal staying the execution of the orders of the lower court is made, irreversible damage will be done to them.”

They also argued in the application that “by the judgment of the court below, the court overreached and rendered negatory the binding decision of the Court of Appeal in Appeal No:CA/E/84/2013 Umeh V  Ejike, dated July 15, 2013, which restored Umeh as the national chairman of APGA.

According to them, “unless by an order of this court, the administration and management of the political party, APGA, will be halted and irreparable damage done to them and APGA before the hearing and determination of the pending appeal by the Court of Appeal.”
