*Ayo Fayose
BY GBENGA ARIYIBI
RESPITE has come the way of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate, Mr. Ayo Fayose following the intervention of the party’s hierarchy in the crisis that trailed the primaries and the support he is now getting from the supporters of his aggrieved co-aspirants.
Now, nothing much is heard from the remaining 12 aggrieved governorship aspirants in the state.
After the emergence of Fayose as the gubernatorial candidate of the party, some of the aggrieved party men had threatened fire and brimstone to pressure the leadership of the party, especially President Goodluck Jonathan to over turn the result of the governorship primaries conducted by a team of PDP leaders led by former Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Peter Odili on March 22 this year.
The PDP aggrieved gubernatorial aspirants include Senator Gbenga Aluko, Suvr. Biodun Aluko, Mr. Bisi Omoyeni, Mrs Modupe Ogundipe, Chief Ropo Ogunbolude, Mr. Peter Obafemi, Mr. Deji Ajayi, Dr Bode Olowoporoku and Ambassador Dare Bejide
They did not stop at that. When the two Alukos and Mrs Ogundipe were invited for a television programme at EKTV, some of them were so enraged that they threw decency to the winds by using gutter language in describing one of their own. They later addressed the press in Abuja where they threatened to pull out of the party if the national leadership of the party did grant their requests.
Now, all appear to be well with the party following the intervention of the national leadership of the party and more so with the tacit agreement reached between Mr. Fayose and one of the leading aspirants, Prince Dayo Adeyeye
Vanguard gathered that supporters of the aggrieved gubernatorial aspirants have been sending emissaries to Fayose on their intention to work for his success at the polls.
The supporters were said to have condemned the hard line posture of some of their principals. Some of them were said to have come personally to pledge their loyalties to the party’s candidate. With this development, the party may go to the polls a strong and united entity.
