Osun PDP primary: Adeleke alleges threat to life

He’brought hoodlums to party meeting—Omisore

OSOGBO—A leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  in Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, has alleged threat to his life by one of the aspirants, Senator Iyiola Omisore,  three days to the party’s primaries.

Adeleke who spoke with newsmen in Ede, his country home, after he submitted a report on threat to his life to the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Maishanu, at the headquarters of the State Police Command, Osogbo, claimed he was punched several times by the aspirant and some of his supporters at a stakeholders meeting in Osogbo in the early hours of yesterday.

But in a swift reaction, Omisore denied the allegation, saying none of his men was after the life of Adeleke or any of his supporters.
Omisore who spoke through the Director of his campaign organisation, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, said: “The thugs who were arrested by the Police claimed to be working for Alhaji Adeleke and they were at the venue of the meeting of some PDP officials to disrupt the meeting which they were not invited to.”

He said the Minister of Police Minister Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan, was assaulted by the political thugs prompting his Police orderly to order for their arrest, claiming the arrested thugs were released to Adeleke immediately he intervened and assured that they were party loyalists.

Omisore added that no individual at the meeting touched Adeleke, let alone punched him as he claimed.
Narrating his ordeal, Adeleke who was the first executive governor of the state said: “At about 11pm on Tuesday I went to a hotel in Osogbo where I was invited by the official of the party from the National Secretariat who were in the state for the party’s ward congress and on getting there I saw some of my loyalists lying on the floor. When I inquired for the offence of those my loyalists, I was told that they were thugs and they were arrested on the orders of the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan who is a close associate of Senator Omisore.”
