Okorocha sacks directors, general managers

BY CHIDI NKWOPARA

IMO State governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has sacked no fewer than six general managers, directors and directors of account of some government-owned establishments.
Apparently irked by stories filtering into Government House from the establishments, Okorocha announced that he was going to set up a panel to painstakingly probe all the parastatals and corporations.

Some of the government establishments affected by the sack order include Imo Newspapers Limited, Library Board, Agricultural Development Project, ADP, Bureau for Procurement, Arts Council and Imo State Water Corporation.

It was not clear at press time why the governor jettisoned the probe panel and opted to sack the officials. It was equally not clear if any panel was constituted by government and if such a panel ever sat to look into any establishment.

Vanguard, however, recalls that speculations about the sack had been on for over six weeks.
A staff who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the panel requested her parastatals to provide certain documents yesterday but was surprised to hear on the state owned radio station that the Director and Director of Account had been suspended.
