Former Green Eagles captain, Segun Odegbami has commended ex- international, Paul Okoku over his plans to formally launch a foundation for less privileged kids in Abuja.
Speaking ahead of the April 17 fund raising/launch of Paul Okoku Foundation at the NICON Luxury Hotel Abuja, Odegbami said such humanitarian effort is a project t that should be supported by all Nigerians.
“As far as I am concerned Okoku is giving back to the Nigerian society that produced him and this calls for support from all sportsmen and women.
“That a former football star is at the forefront of supporting the less privileged kids in our society is unique and memorable. It is my prayer that more former sportsmen and women should emulate Okoku,” said ‘Mathematical’ Odegbami.
The former Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan winger called on all former Nigerian internationals and public spirited individuals to rally round Okoku towards making the foundation launch/fund raising a big success.
Meanwhile, Okoku who was a member of the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations silver medal-winning Green Eagles squad has said he is expecting a memorable and successful foundation launch in Abuja come April 17.
Speaking from his United States of America base, he commended top officials of the National Sports Commission, Nigeria Football Federation, Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, Samson Siasia and the wife of Katsina State Governor, Hajia Hachima Ibrahim Shema for the inspirations given to him in this regard.
