IBADAN— PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, advised other geo-political zones in the country to emulate the religious tolerance among the states in the South-West zone.

According to him, if people in the South-West could live with one another despite the population of Muslims and Christians, he saw no reason for  religious violence in any part of the country.

President Jonathan spoke at the thanksgiving service marking the centenary birthday of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana.
Represented by the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku , the President said: “Yorubaland is a symbol of peace where Muslims, Christians and traditional worshippers embrace one another.

“If there is no religious violence in Yorubaland, there is no reason for religious violence anywhere in the country.”
He described the monarch as a “king among kings, promoter of peace and one of Nigeria’s distinguished sons.”
Speaking, Governor Abiola Ajimobi said Oba Odulana’s life was worthy of emulation.

He appealed to politicians’ supporters not to fight because of any politician, noting that “we politicians see ourselves as friends. We don’t fight one another.”
