UMUAHIA—THE youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has accused Igbo delegates at the on-going National Conference of allegedly not representing Igbo interests well, accusing them of portraying Ndigbo as not being united.
Rising from a meeting in Enugu, the youths warned delegates to sit up or should not bother returning to Ala-Igbo if they squandered the golden opportunity of correcting the structural imbalances inherent in the present Nigerian polity.
The youths, in a statement issued at the end of the meeting and signed by the leader, Mazi. Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said: “We frown on the lukewarm approach of the Igbo delegates to the on-going National Conference; where their near ineptitude is portraying the Igbo nation as one that lacks cohesion and visionary leaders when issues that border on the restructuring of the Nigerian federation are tabled.
“We, hereby, call on the Igbo delegates to, as a matter of urgency, revisit the various Igbo pre-confab position documents and push for those positions as enunciated.
“The Igbo delegates should not bother coming back to Ala-Igbo, if they squander this golden opportunity of correcting the structural imbalances inherent in the present Nigerian polity.”
Meanwhile, the statement also fixed for Thursday, June 5, 2014, the inauguration of the newly elected National Executive Committee, NEC, of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing.
It noted that Chika Nzelu would chair the inauguration committee, while Chinedu Ogah and Comrade Chukwudi Ibegbu were appointed as deputy chairman and secretary respectively.
