Similarly, Governor Babatunde Fashola and his deputy Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, condemned increase in cases of gender based violence and inhuman treatment of women in the society.
They spoke while marking the state’s version of International Women’s Day rally themed; ‘Equality for women is progress for all‘ held at the Police College, Ikeja Local Government Area, which was also attended by the wife of Ogun State deputy Governor, Mrs. Funmi Adesegun.
Speaking Mrs. Fashola said: “I must state, however that it goes beyond just talking about equality for women. We must make an effort to include women for example, at the ongoing National Conference, one of the items on the agenda is gender equality, yet less than 15 percent of the delegates are women. It is for our own good as a nation for women to be educated and to have equal opportunities as men.”
