6 killed in Delta auto crash

UGHELLI— AT least six persons were, Monday, killed in a motor accident along the Ohoror‑Bomadi road, Patani Local Government Area, Delta State.

The accident which occurred about 5.30pm, according to an eyewitness, involved  a Sports Utility Van, SUV,  that was burnt beyond recognition and  a Toyota Corolla  car at a bend before Odorubu Community in Patani Local Government Area.

The eyewitness, a commuter, who gave his name as Mr. Isaac Ofiki said: “The occupant of the SUV was also burnt beyond recognition while the five occupants of the car all died on the spot.

“The Toyota Corolla commercial vehicle was trying to avoid a pothole on the road when it colluded with the SUV, that burst into flame immediately.”

Lamenting that the fire could not be put off despite efforts by other road users, Ofiki said the bodies of the occupants of the Toyota Corolla car were later taken to the Bomadi General Hospital mortuary.

At press time identity of the victims were still unknown.
