IBADAN — FOLLOWING the raid on his campaign office by men from the Oyo State police command on Tuesday, Mr. Seyi Makinde, a governorship aspirant in 2015 election in the state has accused the  state government of sponsoring a petition against him that he was keeping arms in his office.

Makinde, who wants to contest the election on the platform of the major opposition party in the state, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, alleged that the move was intended to discredit him.

While speaking in Ibadan yesterday, Makinde who defected to PDP during the administration of the former Governor of the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, vowed that he would not be cowed into submission through intimidation or  threat  from the government.

But reacting, the Abiola Ajimobi government, through his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo, said, in close to three years, he had run a government that was outstanding in bringing peace to Oyo State.

“Till date, the violence, brigandage and bloodshed that we inherited from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) have become a thing of the past in the state. We will not now change from this known pedigree of peace. We urge Mr. Makinde to look elsewhere for the source of his problem. As far as we know, the police is a national apparatus, in the firm grip of the PDP-led federal government”, he said.
