THE new governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has promised to give a 500 KVA generator  to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hospital, Nnewi, to boost healthcare delivery, even as he made a brisk stopover at the hospital to cheer up students of Community Secondary School, Umuokpu, Awka, who, last week, survived a  fatal automobile accident.

This came as Members of Anambra State chapter of MTUN/AOWAN, the umbrella body of tricycle and motorcycle operators in Nigeria, pledged their support and loyalty to Governor Obiano, to enable him succeed in the task of administering the state.

The students were said to be returning from school when a fast speeding car lost control and ran over them, killing seven and leaving many fatally wounded. On hearing the story of the accident and learning about the plight of the survivors, Governor Obiano suspended other pressing engagements and rushed down to Nnewi from Awka to assure the students that  his administration would not abandon them in their hour of need.

security of lives and property in the state.

“Similarly, we are promising the brand new governor, Obiano, that we shall work very well with him.

“We also promise that our members shall be law-abiding and loyal to the government in all his programmes which are people-oriented,” he said.

He, therefore, appealed to Governor Obiano to assist them in removing all the illegal revenue collectors in the state, who had been constituting obstacles on the wheels of their operations in the state by imposing multiple taxation on the citizenry.
