*Ambassador Obiozor to head secretariat

ENUGU – Former Minister of External Affairs, General Ike Nwachukwu was, Thursday, appointed by leaders of the South East geopolitical zone to lead delegates from the zone to the National Conference billed for inauguration by President Goodluck Jonathan next week.
Also, a secretariat that would coordinate activities of the S-East delegates has been set up in Abuja and it would be headed by former Nigeria’s Ambassador to United States, Prof George Obiozor.
Chairman South East Governors’ Forum and Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, who briefed newsmen at the end of a four-hour closed door meeting of the forum and the South East delegates to the conference, said Prof Monsignor Obiora Ike was also appointed as Deputy Chairman of the delegates.
he five states of Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi and Enugu also appointed state leaders.
According to him, while former Senate president, Ken Nnamani will lead Enugu delegates, former governor of Ebonyi, Dr Sam Egwu emerged as the leader of Ebonyi state delegates.
Former President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Ikedife emerged as leader of Anambra delegates while Dr Ezekiel Izuogu and Ike Nwachukwu became leaders of Imo and Abia delegates respectively.
He also said the governors’ forum approved the establishment of a secretariat for south-east delegates throughout the duration of the conference in Abuja, while each of the states is expected to appoint two secretarial staff.
The secretariat, he added, would be funded by the government of the five South East states.
