Igali
President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Dr Daniel Igali has eulogised the vision ‘High Performance Centre that out gone Sports Minister, Alhaji Bolaji Abdullahi instituted and tasked his successor to keep the vision alive.
Reacting yesterday to news of Alhaji Abdullahi’s removal as the country’s Sports Minister, Dr Igali said the news did not come to him as a shock it was a political appointment of which nobody so appointed has any immunity .
“I do know that ministers are not meant to be there for ever.. What I am so much impressed about him is his focus on high performance centre he was trying to perpetrate, so my expectation is that the new minister will focus passionately on that and ensure that the high performance project is kept intact.
“I wouldn’t say that the news of his removal came to me as a surprise because I do know that when a minister is in place there is no immunity protecting his removal but just hope that the new guy coming in should be somebody that is sports oriented
“I have a good memory of the out gone minister right from the first time I meet him when he summoned a meeting of five sports associations of which wrestling was one of them. For the three days the meeting lasted he showed that he was very focused, has listening ears and welcomes meaningful suggestions from individuals.
He is someone who is so much passionate about sports and somebody who wants to elevate sports in the country. And for me, the impression that I have from that meeting was very good”, he said.
