Digital Africa 2014 to double as World Electronics Forum

THE Chief Executive Officer of Digital Africa, Dr. Evans Woherem, has said the 2014 edition of the conference would also serve as a platform for the 19th edition of the World Electronics Forum.

He added that this development would mean “more people, more products and services, increased network, more business and business opportunities, among others.” Giving details of both events slated for 24th, April, 2014 at  Eko Hotel and Suites, Woherem said the forum included the giving of awards to deserving practitioners in the Information Communication Technology (ICT) and an exhibition of assorted, up-to-date and state-of-the-art electronic products. In his words: “The Digital Africa Award Series 2014 is an event dedicated to rewarding the behaviours that we want to encourage as Digital Africa.

This event is geared to acknowledge exemplary organizations and individuals that have pushed the boundaries of excellence and have risen above competition. They must also have demonstrated outstanding performance in ICT sector in Africa in the fields of Academic and Intellectual Excellence, Innovative technology, Venture Capital, Regulatory services and in creating Innovative Mobile Applications”. He added: Benchmarked against the highest standards of measurement, recipients of these awards indeed represent the best in class.

Companies that are commended as Digital Africa Award recipients are those with the diligence, perseverance, and dedication required to develop a successful business plan, and excel in the increasingly competitive global marketplace.”The three-day annual event brings together the Continent’s Information and Technology Sector as well as the major users of ICT hardware, software, solutions and applications. The aim of the conference is to promote a better integrated Africa, using modern ICT tools.

It is also an important platform to network, share knowledge on the latest developments in the ICT world, do business and close deals. Departing from the usual gathering of “ICT people talking to ICT people”, Digital Africa Conference & Exhibition targets sectors of the society that are major consumers of ICT. The Awards categories cut across various industries in the ICT sector.
