The member representing Warri North constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Mrs. Irene Imilar, has faulted the exclusion of Itsekiri as delegates to the national conference.
Imilar, in a telephone chat, expressed surprise that Chief Isaac Jemide’s name was omitted from the state’s list duly forwarded by the Delta State Government to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Puis Anyim.
She said: “Chief Jemide was duly nominated after painstaking consultations with our leaders and we promptly forwarded his name to the governor, who was pleased with the choice. Chief’s name, alongside other delegates of the state, was forwarded to Abuja. I must say here that I am as surprised as the people out there, who could least imagine that the Itsekiri, despite their economic relevance to the Nigerian nation, could be neglected and excluded from a national dialogue of this nature.”
She called for calm among Itsekiri youths, assuring that the government was doing everything within its powers to address the anomaly.
