Maigari
President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Aminu Maigari has explained that NFF will not recall former Super Eagles assistant coach, Sylvanus Okpala.
Maigari said in a chat with reporters in Cape Town, South Africa that the former Nigeria international will not be recalled to the national team because he was disengaged.
“Okpala was disengaged. He is not the first coach to be disengaged. Why should he be recalled?” Maigari asked with a tinge of anger in his voice.
Continuing, the NFF boss said, “Nigeria is such a big country, blessed with a lot of talents. There are so many competent coaches in this country. It is nothing personal.”
Corroborating the NFF boss’ statement, Technical Committee member, Paul Bassey said “Okpala was axed not because he was incompetent. He was good but was disengaged because of insubordination. It is not possible for him to be recalled.”
