The contractor saddled with the responsibility of building a multi- purpose and  a FIFA standard stadium  at the Arthur Aze avenue in the Anambra state capital Awka, Paul B Construction company limited stayed away from the stadium when a consortium of inspection team led  by the commissioner for Youth and Sports Dr. Edozie Aroh who were on official assignment to  see the level of work done  following the heat from the House Committee on Sports.

It was gathered that the contractor tactically avoided the team for fear of being tongue- lashed.

Some of the stakeholders who spoke on condition of anonymity lambasted the  construction firm for the poor level of work done in spite of the huge amount of money already pumped into the stadium project by the state government.

One of them angrily called on Governor Pete Obi to do something about it to save the future of the state’s athletes who have taken to sports as their career.

“For Paul B construction, it is shocking that he has chosen to be conspicuously absent from this inspection team.

I think he is gambling with his job. We are the major stakeholders in this business, we will not take this from him, he should give us what we want and not what he wants. He should follow the the original architectural plan given to him. What we are seeing here is not acceptable.

The job should be given to competent engineers that know what it takes to build a standard stadium,” he said.
