Super Eagles goalkeeper, Chigozie Agbim, has owned up that the Eagles of Mali were their toughest opponents at the 2014 African Nations Championship (Chan).
Agbim explained that the Malians combined good technique and physical strength which helped them defeat Nigeria 2-1 in their opening game of the Chan.
But Agbim was quick to point out that the Super Eagles were unlucky to have lost against Mali. “For me, Mali were the toughest team we played at the competition. They didn’t make our first game (at the Chan) any easy as they were good on the ball and strong too. But we were not lucky enough that’s why we lost that game,” he said.
However, the Enugu Rangers custodian reflected on his personal performance and admitted that he still remains pained by conceding from Dario Khan’s long range free kick when Nigeria played Mozambique.
He also said Khan’s free kick from close to the halfway line was capable of catching any goalkeeper off guard.
