ABEOKUTA — There was a mild drama when men of Ogun State Police Command stormed a private hospital in Lagos and arrested two patients.
The  Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement, yesterday, said the two patients were suspected robbers who sustained injury during a gun battle with Police two days before their arrest.

According to Adejobi, the  anti-crime patrol team attached to Ogijo Divisional Headquarters led by the Divisional Police Officer, Superintendent of Police Toyin Afolaogun, arrested the two fleeing injured robbers in a Lagos hospital.

He said: “The aggressive investigation instituted by the Commissioner of Police, CP, Ikemefuna Okoye, into the incident that occurred at Ogijo in  Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State led to the discovery and arrest of these suspects, who were on danger list, on Saturday around 7am  while receiving treatment in a Lagos hospital.

“The robbers had engaged the police in a gun battle on Thursday in Ogijo and this  left one of the robbers dead. The hoodlums took away a police rifle from an injured police corporal but was immediately recovered with additional three  locally made pistols and other offensive weapons.

“The arrested suspects, Oladeji Sherif and Akinbami Owode, both in their 20s, are still receiving treatment in the hospital and will be taken to the state CID Eleweran, Abeokuta for further investigation. They will soon appear in court.

“The Commissioner of Police has once again appreciated the support the police command enjoys from the good and ever conscious people of Ogun State and vowed to maintain the good tempo of modern and effective policing of the Gateway state.”
