ABUJA—Supervising  Minister of Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, yesterday, asked Nigerians to  expect consolidation of the gains of the investments of the present administration in the education sector this year.
Wike stated this while speaking on the projections of the ministry for the education sector in 2014 in Abuja.

He said the Federal Government would fundamentally improve  the areas of access and quality of education in both the basic and tertiary levels of the sector.
He said: “This administration will frontally tackle the issue of more access to basic education for the Almajiris of the North, the boy-child of the South-East and South-South, the girl-child of the North and adult and youth illiterates scattered across the nation.

“We are looking forward to comprehensively addressing the issue of access to quality education for less privileged Nigerians. We are working towards ensuring that majority of the out of school children have access to education. We are going to build on the gains that we have already attained in the construction of Almajiri and girl-child schools.

“The complete overhaul of the universities will be on the fast lane, while the Needs Assessment reports of Federal Polytechnics and Colleges of Education would have been submitted and the reports acted upon. The training of teachers of basic education sector and the lecturers in the tertiary education sector will receive the deserved attention in the course of 2014.”
