Gusau-The Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, yesterday said that policemen all over the world were endangered species.

The IGP was represented on the occasion by the Commissioner of Police in charge of Welfare, Force Headquarters, Alhaji Yakubu Usman.
Presenting the gift to the members of the families of the deceased policemen at the command headquarters in Gusau, Abubakar explained that the gesture was aimed at giving the families a sense of belonging, as the police high command had not forgotten them.
He said that the police would continue to initiate other welfare packages in respect of those who either died or become incapacitated in the course of their duties.
According to him, lives of police personnel all over the world were endangered, considering the threat they receive from the public, particularly criminals, who were all out to eliminate them.
He however, said that the presentation of rice was just the beginning, as arrangements had been made by the headquarters toward ensuring that no family of any police officer who died in service was left behind in the scheme of things, and appealed to the public to always consider police officers as their friends and not as enemies.
