Former Gov Daniel and Gov Amosun
- Its obsolete, says govt; allegation laughable — Daniel
BY DAUD OLATUNJI
ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State government, yesterday, accused the immediate past administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel of procuring a 20 year old inefficient power equipment.
But in a reaction, former Governor Gbenga Daniel said the allegation against his government as laughable, describing Amosun as being mischievous.
According to the present government, it had resolved to sell the equipment to interested buyers, explaining that it decided to abandon the multi billion naira power plant equipment purchased by his predecessor after it paid N9 billion shortly after it came into power, following its inefficient and obsolete nature.
The state Commissioner for Finance, Kemi Adeosun stated this at the 2014 budget breakdown organised by the ministry of Budget and Planning at June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.
However, speaking through one of his media aides, Steve Oliyide, Daniel said: “Let me state clearly that those equipment are of the best standard, and that this unfortunate decision was in continuation of the mischievous politics of discontinuing all the policies and programmes of the previous administration.
“Is it not laughable and inverted logic that the government of Senator Ibikunle Amosun said it was going to sell the equipment which it claimed are obsolete?”
