Bamidele denies defection, says he was never in APC

By Dayo Johnson

A governorship  aspirant of the Labour Party, LP, in Ekiti State,  Opeyemi Bamidele, yesterday, denied defecting from any political party.

Opeyemi, who was formerly of the defunct ACN, spoke at a public lecture organised by  Ondo State journalists to mark their press week.

Other speakers include Senator Femi Ojudu, Senator Boluwaji Kunlere and  Kayode Ajulo.
Opeyemi, who was reacting to the implication of him dumping the defunct ACN said: “Let me set the record straight today. I did not defect from any political party to the Labour Party as being insinuated.

“ I was a member of the ACN, a very loyal and committed member and a National Director for three years.
“But along the line the leadership of the defunct ACN went into talks with other parties and they discontinued with the ACN and that marks the end of the party.

“ For two months I was without a party and we consulted across the state on the way forward  and that gave birth to Ekiti Bibire Coalition.

“ Ekiti people wanted us to form a political party, we consulted and later took a decision to join a progressive party, the LP.

“ We then decided that we were not registering with the newly formed APC but LP. “With the merger with other parties, the ACN seized to exist in this country.
